Atlanta native Erin C. Pitts is a passionate and dedicated violist whose goal is to promote the arts through solo, chamber music, performance, and teaching. A graduate of The Juilliard School, she was a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship, holding the scholarship for six years. Studying with Heidi Castleman, Hsin-Yun Huang, Cynthia Phelps and Misha Amory, her musical impulses are multifaceted in approach and dynamic. Attracted to international scope and interpretation of classical music, Pitts completed a secondary masters degree, studying with Lars Anders Tomter at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, Norway. Shortly thereafter, Pitts joined the Motus Quartet.
The Motus String Quartet, based in Vienna, Austria, was most recently awarded the first prize at the 10th Joseph Joachim International Chamber Music Competition (March, 2025). The ensemble continues their study at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien under the tutelage of Johannes Meissl and Peter Schuhmayer, among others.
As an avid chamber music collaborator, Pitts participated in a wide range of festivals including Music Academy of the West, studying with the Takács Quartet (2016, 2017). She was selected as an International Program Artist at Music@Menlo and later attended the Verbier Festival Academy (2018, 2019). Pitts recently finished her third season performing at Krzyzowa-Music ChamberFestival (2022-2024).
